1956. No. 41.

REGULATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL SERVICE ACT 1951-1953.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Service Act 1951-1953.

Amendments of the National Service Regulations.

1. Regulation 12 of the National Service Regulations is repealed and the following regulations are inserted in its stead:—

Change of address of registered persons.

"12.—(1.) A (registered person who, before he receives his certificate of registration, changes his place of living from that shown in his form of registration shall notify in writing the address of his new place of living to the Registrar at the National Service Registration Office to which his form of registration was addressed or delivered.

"(2.) A registered person who, after he receives his certificate of registration, changes his place of living from that shown in his certificate of registration shall insert the address of his new place of living in the space provided for the purpose in his certificate of registration and shall deliver the certificate of registration to, or post it addressed to, the Registrar at the National Service Registration Office from which it was issued.

Incorrect address in certificate.

"12a.—(1.) A registered person whose place of living is not at the address shown in a certificate of registration issued to him shall, within thirty days after receiving the certificate of registration, insert the correct address of his place of living in the space provided for the purpose in the certificate of registration and shall deliver the certificate of registration to, or post it addressed to, the Registrar at the National Service Registration Office from which it was issued.

Penalty: Ten pounds.

"(2.) Upon compliance by a person with the requirements of the last Preceding sub-regulation, the Registrar shall issue to that person a certificate of registration showing his correct address.".

Fees and costs.

2. Regulation 48 of the National Service Regulations is amended by inserting in sub-regulation (2.), before the words "these Regulations" (second occurring), the words "the Act or".

3. Form 1 in the Schedule to the National Service Regulations is repealed and the following form inserted in its stead:—

12. If regularly employed or working—

(i) State employer's name

(ii) State address of place where you work

(iii) State kind of business or industry in which you work

(iv) State your usual occupation in that business or industry

(v) State whether you are an apprentice

(vi) If you are an evening or part-time student, state—

(a) Name of educational establishment

(b) Course of study (c) Stage reached

13. If not regularly employed or not working—State whether you are—

(a) A full-time student (b) Unemployed

(c) Left school but not commenced work

If you are a full-time student—

(i) State name of educational establishment

(ii) State course of study (iii) Stage reached

(iv) If you intend to continue full-time studies for some time or to commence work in the near future, give full particulars of proposed course of study or proposed employment (including in the case of a student the name of the educational establishment)

14. If you have good reasons for preferring any period or periods of the year in which to perform National Service, state which, and give reasons

15. If you desire to indicate a preference for service, insert "Navy", "Army", or "Air Force", as the case may be, opposite your preference—

16. If you are a member of or have served in the Citizen Forces, or in a Cadet Training Corps, e.g., R.A.N.R. Cadets, School or Regimental Cadets, A.T.C., give particulars

17. To be completed only by those desiring to perform their National Service earlier than normal. I am seventeen years of age and wish to register for early National Service for the following reason:—

5. Form 6 in the Schedule to the National Service Regulations is amended by omitting the figures "27" and inserting in their stead the figures "28".

6. Form 9 in the Schedule to the National Service Regulations is amended by omitting the figures "29" and inserting in their stead the figures and letter "29a".

7. Form 10 in the Schedule to the National Service Regulations if amended by omitting the figures "29" and inserting in their stead the figures and letter "29a".
