REGULATION UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939-1943.*

I, THE DEPUTY OF THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the National Security Act 1939-1943.

Amendment of the National Security (Supplementary) Regulations.

After regulation 81 of the National Security (Supplementary) Regulations the following regulation is inserted:—

Smoking, lighting matches, &c., in naval magazine areas, &c.

“81a.—(1.) Notwithstanding anything in any law of the Commonwealth or of any State or Territory of the Commonwealth, a person shall not smoke, and shall not ignite a match, smokers’ lighter or other device ordinarily used for the purpose of igniting tobacco in, on or within one hundred feet of any magazine, vehicle or area containing, or in or on which are situated, any explosives or ammunition under the control of the Department of the Navy.

“(2.) This regulation shall be administered by the Minister of State for the Navy.”.
