REGULATION UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939-1940.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia,
acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the
following Regulation under the

Amendment of National Security (Supplementary) Regulations.
The National Security (Supplementary) Regulations are amended by adding at the end thereof the following regulation:—
“81.—(1.) Notwithstanding anything in any law of the Commonwealth or of any State or Territory of the Commonwealth, a person shall not smoke, and shall not ignite a match, smokers’ lighter or other device ordinarily used for the purpose of igniting tobacco—
(
a ) in the hold of any ship; or(
b ) in any place on board a ship where a notice prohibiting smoking is displayed.
“(2.) A person shall not, while in charge or control of—
(
a ) the loading or discharging of any ship;(
b ) any person engaged in the loading or discharging of any ship; or(
c ) any other operation on any ship,
permit or suffer the doing of any act prohibited by the last preceding sub-regulation.
“(3.) This regulation shall be administered by the Minister of State for Commerce.”.
