Definitions.

1. Regulation 5 of the National Security (Staff of War-time Authorities) Regulations is amended by omitting the definitions of “organization” and “returned soldier”.

Salaries of officers.

2. Regulation 6 of the National Security (Staff of War-time Authorities) Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting sub-regulations (1.) and (2.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(1.) An officer who occupies an office specified in the Schedule to these Regulations shall, subject to this regulation, be paid the minimum salary specified in the Schedule opposite to that office, or, where a maximum salary is also so specified, such higher salary (not exceeding that maximum salary) as the Board determines.”;

(b)by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words “Third Schedule, or in Table A in the Fourth Schedule to these Regulations, as the case may be,” and inserting in their stead the words “Schedule to these Regulations”; and

(c) by omitting sub-regulations (4.) and (5.).

3. Regulation 7 of the National Security (Staff of War-time Authorities) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Conditions of employment.

“7. Subject to these Regulations, the provisions of the Public Service Regulations for the time being in force, or of a determination made under the Public Service Arbitration Act 1920-1950 in respect of a particular class of officers of the Commonwealth Public Service, with respect to—

(a)leave of absence and holidays;

(b)attendance of officers;

(c)performance of duties;

(d)hours of duty and overtime payment;

(e) costsof conveyance and travelling, meal and other allowances;

(f) salary marginal increases;

(g)variations of salary on account of variations in the cost of living; and

(h) such other conditions of employment as are not prescribed by these Regulations,

apply to officers, and in the application of those provisions to those officers the powers and functions of the Public Service Board, a Permanent Head or a Chief Officer shall be exercised by the Chairman of the Board.”.

Repeal of regulations.

4. Regulations 8, 9, 10, 11, 11a, 12, 12a, 12b, 13, 14, 14a, 15, 16 and 16a of the National Security (Staff of War-time Authorities) Regulations are repealed.

5. The Third, Fourth and Fourteenth Schedules to the National Security (Staff of War-time Authorities) Regulations are repealed and the following Schedule inserted in their stead:—

(ii) An officer shall not be advanced in salary beyond the rate of £270 per annum unless she passes tests approved by the Minister

(iii) An adult officer who passes the tests referred to in the last preceding paragraph shall be paid a salary at a rate of not less than £258 per annum and shall be advanced to a salary at a rate of not less than £294 per annum, twelve months after the date of passing the tests
