REGULATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939-1940.*

I, THE DEPUTY OF THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Security Act 1939-1940.

Amendments of the National Security (Passport) Regulations.

Definition.

1. Regulation 2 of the National Security (Passport) Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of “authorized military authority” and inserting in its stead the following definition:—

“‘authorized person’ means, in relation to any power, act, duty or matter, a person thereto authorized by or on behalf of the Minister;”.

Passports, &c., not to be issued without prior approval.

2. Regulation 5 of the National Security (Passport) Regulations is amended by omitting the words “authorized military authority” and inserting in their stead the words “authorized person”.

Exemptions.

3. Regulation 9 of the National Security (Passport) Regulations is amended by omitting the words “authorized military authority” and inserting in their stead the words “authorized person”.
