1942. No. 187.

 

REGULATION UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939-1940.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL, in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the National Security Act 1939-1940.

Amendment of the National Security (Military Forces) Regulations. 

Regulation 10 of the National Security (Military Forces) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Power to appoint Lines of Communication Areas.

“10.—(1.) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Defence Act 1903-1941 or the Regulations made under that Act, the officer appointed to command the Military Forces in time of war may—

(a) appoint any part of Australia to be a Lines of Communication Area; and

(b) divide any Lines of Communication Area in such manner as he thinks fit.

(2.) Any officer holding the office of Commander of a Lines of Communication Area or performing the duties of that office shall have, and may exercise and perform, in respect of that Area, the like powers, duties and functions as are conferred or imposed by or under any Act upon the District Commandant of any Military District in respect of that District.
