REGULATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Security Act 1939.

National Security (Meat Export) Regulations.

Short title.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Security (Meat Export) Regulations.

Definitions.

2.—(1.) In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears—

“edible offal” means any edible portion, other than the flesh, of cattle, sheep or pigs;

“meat” means the flesh, whether fresh or preserved, of cattle, sheep or pigs.

(2.) Any reference in these Regulations to the Meat Export Control Act 1935 shall include a reference to that Act as amended and in force in any particular time.

Export of meat to United Kingdom.

3. Notwithstanding the grant of any licence or authority under the Meat Export Control Act 1935, no person shall sell or export any meat or edible offal to any person in the United Kingdom other than to His Majesty’s Minister of State of Food in the United Kingdom.

Variation of export licenses.

4. Compliance with the provisions of regulation 3 of these Regulations shall be deemed to be a condition of every license or authority granted under the Meat Export Control Act 1935and, in addition to any other penalty to which any person may be liable for any contravention of the provisions of regulation 3 of these Regulations, sub-sections (2.) and (3.) of section 17 of the Meat Export Control Act 1935 shall apply as if that contravention were also a contravention of a condition of a license or authority to export prescribed under and in accordance with the provisions of the Meat Export Control Act 1935.
