REGULATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Security Act 1939.

National Security (Jute) Regulations.

Citation.

1. These Regulations may becited as the National Security (Jute) Regulations.

Definitions.

2. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears—

“the Jute Buyer” means the Commonwealth Jute Buyer appointed under these Regulations;

“the Minister” means the Minister of State for Supply and Development.

Jute Buyer

3.For the purposes of these Regulations, the Minister may appoint a Commonwealth Jute Buyer, who shall hold office during the pleasure of the Minister and shall have and may exercise, subject to any directions of the Minister, such powers and functions as are conferred on him by these Regulations.

Salary of Jute Buyer.

4. The Jute Buyer shall be paid such salary and expenses as the Minister from time to time determines or approves.

Powers of Jute Buyer.

5.—(1.) The Jute Buyer is hereby authorized to purchase, on behalf of the Commonwealth, wool packs, corn sacks and such other jute goods as the Minister determines by notice published in the Gazette.

(2.) The Jute Buyer is hereby authorized to sell, on behalf of the Commonwealth, any jute goods purchased under the last preceding sub-regulation.
