STATUTORY RULES.
REGULATION UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939-1940.*

THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation
under the

Amendment of the National Security (General) Regulations.
Regulation 16 of the National Security (General) Regulations is amended by inserting the following sub-regulation after sub-regulation (2b.):—
“(2c.) Where a Press Censorship Authority has, in pursuance of any order relating to the censorship of newspapers or other publications, required the editor or printer or publisher of any newspaper to submit to him before printing or publication all matter intended for publication in the newspaper and a Minister is satisfied that the editor, printer or publisher has on more than one occasion—
(
a ) failed or refused to comply with the requirement of the Press Censorship Authority; or(
b ) printed or published in the newspaper matter the printing or publication of which has been forbidden by a Press Censorship Authority,
and that the publication or
continuance of the publication of the newspaper is likely to prejudice the
defence of the Commonwealth or the efficient prosecution of the war, the
Minister may by order published in the
