1942. No. 276.

REGULATION UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939-1940.*

I, THE Deputy of the GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the National Security Act 1939-1940.

Amendment of the National Security (General) Regulations.

Restriction orders and detention orders.

Regulation 26 of the National Security (General) Regulations is amended—

(a) by adding at the end of sub-regulation (8.) the words “, or the Government or Administration of any other country or place.”; and

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (8a.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(8a.) The Minister may at any time by order direct that any person, who has been sent to Australia for internment in accordance with arrangements entered into by the Government of the Commonwealth and the Government of the United Kingdom or of any other part of His Majesty’s dominions or the Government or Administration of any other country or place, be sent to the United Kingdom or to any other part of His Majesty’s dominions or, at the request of the Government or Administration with which the arrangements have been entered into, to any other country or place, and that person shall, as soon as practicable, be sent to the United Kingdom or other part of His Majesty’s dominions, or to the other country or place specified in the order.”.
