REGULATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939-1946.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Security Act 1939-1946.

Amendments of the National Security (Economic Organization) Regulations.

Altered rates permissible in certain cases.

1. Regulation 18 of the National Security (Economic Organization) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-paragraph (iii) of paragraph (d)of sub-regulation (1.) the word “Court” (wherever occurring) and inserting in its stead the letter and word “C Series”;

(b)by omitting paragraph (c) of sub-regulation (1a.) and inserting in its stead the following paragraph:—

“(c) ‘C Series index-number’ means an index-number included in the C Series of retail price index-numbers published from time to time by the Commonwealth Statistician;”; and

(c) by omitting from paragraph (iii) of sub-regulation (3.) the words “, which may be proved to the satisfaction of the Authority to exist”.

Payment of altered rates to provide for cost of living adjustments.

2. Regulation 18a of the National Security (Economic Organization) Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-regulation (1.) the words “the ‘Court’ series of Retail Price Index Numbers published from time to time by, or at the direction of, the

Alteration of basic wage.

3. Regulation 18c of the National Security (Economic Organization) Regulations is amended by omitting the words “applicable in all the State capital cities and made by the Court in pursuance of the last preceding regulation” and inserting in their stead the words “payable under awards which are adjustable in accordance with changes in the weighted average retail price index-numbers for the six capital cities, and resulting from the making, variation or interpretation of an award by the Court in pursuance of the last preceding regulation”.
