REGULATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Security Act 1939.

National Security (Cold Store) Regulations.

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Security (Cold Store) Regulations.

Definitions.

2. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears—

“cold store” means any premises capable of storing perishable commodities at a temperature which may be regulated or reduced below normal by artificial means;

“the Secretary” means the Secretary of the Department of Commerce.

Returns of cold storage space.

3. Any person who has the management or control of any cold store who is notified in writing by the Secretary so to do shall, in respect of the position in that cold store on each and every Saturday following the date of the receipt of the notice, forward to the Secretary a return in accordance with the Form in the Schedule to these Regulations.

Place and time for lodgment of returns.

4. Returns furnished in pursuance of Regulation 3 of these Regulations shall be addressed to the Secretary, Department of Commerce, Commonwealth Bank Building, Sydney, and either delivered at that address or lodged in the post addressed to that address on the Monday next following the Saturday in respect of which the return is made.

False returns.

5. Any person who furnishes a return required to be furnished by these Regulations which is false in any particular shall be guilty of an offence against the National Security Act 1939.
