REGULATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL SECURITY ACT 1939–1940.*
I,
THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations
under the National Security Act 1939–1940.

National Security (Agricultural Production)
Regulations.
Short
title.
1. These Regulations may
be cited as the National Security (Agricultural Production) Regulations.
Administration.
2. These Regulations shall
be administered by the Minister of State for Commerce and Agriculture.
Definitions.
3. In these Regulations,
unless the contrary intention appears—
“Agricultural
Produce” includes all products from farming operations;
“the
Director-General” means the Director-General of Agriculture appointed in
pursuance of these Regulations.
Object
of Regulations.
4. The object of these
Regulations is to secure adequate supplies of agricultural produce by the most
efficient use of the agricultural resources of the Commonwealth and these
Regulations shall be administered accordingly.

Director-General
of Agriculture.
5.—(1.) There shall be a
Director-General of Agriculture who shall be appointed by the Minister and
shall hold office for such term as is specified in the instrument of
appointment and on such conditions as the Minister thinks fit, and shall be
paid such salary and allowances as the Minister determines.
(2.) The Director-General of
Agriculture shall not be subject to the Commonwealth
Public Service Act 1922–1941.
Functions
of Director-General.
6. The Director-General
shall have the direction and control of such matters in relation to
agricultural production as are from time to time referred to him by the
Minister.
