National Memorials (Amendment) Ordinance 1989

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the National Memorials Ordinance 1928

Short title

1.  This Ordinance may be cited as the National Memorials (Amendment) Ordinance 1989.[1]

Commencement

2. (1)  Section 1 and 2 commence on the date on which this Ordinance is notified in the Gazette.

(2) The remaining provisions of this Ordinance commence on the date of commencement of section 22 of the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government) Act 1988.

Principal Ordinance

3.  In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the National Memorials Ordinance 1928.[2]

Insertion

4.  After section 1 of the Principal Ordinance the following section is inserted:

Application

“1A.  This Ordinance applies only in relation to National Land.”.

Establishment of Committee

5.  Section 3 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from subsections (2) and (4) “, Department of the Interior” and substituting “of the Department”.
