NATIONAL LIBRARY (AMEND­

MENT) ACT.

Act No. 6, 1934.

An Act to make further provision regarding the completion of the National Library and to sanction such completion in accordance with certain amended plans; to amend the National Library Act, 1905, and the National Library x \c t , 1924; and for pur­ poses connected therewith. [Assented to, 10th July, 1934.]

t he same, as follows :—
This Act m a y be cited as the " Nat ional L i b r a r y (Amendment ) Act, 1934 ."

(1) The work sanctioned by the Nat ional L i b r a r y Act, 1924, may be car r ied out not in accordance wi th the plans re fer red to in section three of the Nat ional L i b r a r y Act, 1924, but in accordance wi th p lans marked " P l a n s of the Completion of the Nat ional L ib ra ry , 1934," numbered B697 to B702, respectively signed by the Sec re t a ry for Publ ic W o r k s and countersigned by the Government Architect , and deposi ted in the public office of the said Secre tary .

(2) The subst i tut ion in such p lans of a rectangu­ l a r read ing room with a r idged roof for an octagonal r ead ing room with a dome roof over the same, and of f ront s teps rec tangula r in form for s teps round in form is expressly sanctioned. (3)

(3) The work may be carried out in accordance with the plans numbered B697 to B702 subject to such minor alterations and modifications as to the Secretary for Public Works shall seem expedient and proper.

(4) The estimated cost of carrying out the said work as stated in section four of the National Library Act, 1924, shall not be increased by reason of the work being carried out in accordance with the plans numbered B697 to B702.
