National Health Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Health Act 1953.

Principal Regulations

1. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the National Health Regulations.

2. Regulation 5A of the Principal Regulations is repealed and the following Regulation substituted:

Prescribed islands—sub-section 13 (2A) of the Act

“5a. For the purposes of sub-section 13 (2a) of the Act each of the following islands is a prescribed island:

(a) Althorpe Island, South Australia;

(b) Bathurst Island, Northern Territory;

(c) Elcho Island, Northern Territory;

(d) Flinders Island, South Australia;

(e) each island in the group of islands known as the Furneaux Group, Tasmania;

(f) Groote Eylandt, Northern Territory;

(g) Kangaroo Island, South Australia;

(h) King Island, Tasmania;

(j) Melville Island, Northern Territory;

(k) Neptune Island, South Australia;

(l) Thistle Island, South Australia;

(m) Three Hummock Island, Tasmania;

(n) each island in the Torres Strait Islands that forms part of the territory of Queensland.”.

Accommodation allowance in respect of certain escorts

3. Regulation 9 of the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1) “This Regulation applies to” and substituting “Sub-regulation (2) applies to”;

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (2) “this regulation applies” and substituting “this sub-regulation “applies”;

(c) by inserting after sub-regulation (2) the following sub-regulation:

“(2A) Sub-regulation (3) applies to an approved escort of an approved patient.”; and

(d) by omitting from sub-regulation (3) “this regulation applies” and substituting “this sub-regulation applies”.
