National Health Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Health Act 1953.

Commencement

1. Regulations 5 and 6 shall come into operation on 1 January 1987.

Principal Regulations

2. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the National Health Regulations.

Prescribed benefits for purposes of definition of “basic hospital benefits table” or “basic table” in sub-section 4 (1) of the Act

3. Regulation 3b of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (a) “section 120d of the Repatriation Act 1920”and substituting “paragraph 89 (1) (a) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986.

4. After Part 1b of the Principal Regulations the following Part is inserted:

“PART 1c—PROVISION OF VACCINES

Prescribed disease for purposes of paragraph 9b (d) of the Act

“4c. For the purposes of paragraph 9b (d) of the Act, the following disease is prescribed, namely, hepatitis B.”.

Repeal of Part II

5. Part II of the Principal Regulations is repealed.

Repeal of Schedule 3

6. Schedule 3 to the Principal Regulations is repealed.

Additional amendments

7. The Principal Regulations are amended as set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.

1. The following provisions of the Principal Regulations are amended by omitting “Chairman” (wherever occurring) and substituting “Chairperson”:

Sub-regulation 21 (1), regulation 22, sub-regulations 23 (1), 23 (2), 23 (2a) and 23 (3).

2. The Principal Regulations are further amended as set out in the following table:
