REGULATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL HEALTH ACT 1953-1963*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Health Act 1953-1963.

Amendments of the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations. 

Commencement.

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on the first day of February, 1964.

First Schedule.

2. The First Schedule to the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting after the item—

“Alcohol.”

the following items:—

“Almond Oil.

Aloes.”;

(b) by inserting after the item—

“Ethyl Oleate.”

the following item:—

“Ferrous Gluconate.”;

(c) by inserting after the item—

“Ginger.”

the following item:—

“Halibut Liver Oil.”;

(d) by inserting after the item—

“Isoniazid.”

the following item:—

“Kaolin Heavy.”;

(e) by inserting after the item—

“Maleic Acid.”

the following item:—

“Malt Extract.”;

“Typhoid-Paratyphoid A and B Tetanus Vaccine.”

the following items:—

“Typhoid-Paratyphoid A, B and C Vaccine.

Urethane.”.

Third Schedule.

3. The Third Schedule to the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended by omitting the items “Adrenaline Hydrochloride Solution, B.P. 1953.”, “Charcoal.”, “Colocynth, B.P.C.”, “Erythrityltetranitrate, B.P.C. 1949.”, “Fructose, B.P. 1948.”, “Glucose, Liquid, B.P. 1953.”, “Iodoform Suppository, B.P. 1948.”, “Ox-Bile Extract, B.P. 1948.”, “Quassia Tincture, B.P. 1948.” and “Vitamin K.”.

Fifth Schedule.

4. The Fifth Schedule to the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting the item relating to the pharmaceutical benefit “Ethisterone Tablets B.P.” and inserting in its stead the following item:—

Ethisterone Tablets B.P...

Turner’s syndrome”; and

(b) by omitting the item relating to the pharmaceutical benefit “Fluoxymesterone” and inserting in its stead the following item:—

“Fluoxymesterone....................................................

With the written authority of the Director-General, long-term steroid therapy”.
