REGULATIONS UNDER THE NATIONAL HEALTH ACT 1953-1967.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following regulations under the National Health Act 1953-1967.

Amendments of The National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations 

Commencement.

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on the first day of April, 1968.

Pharmaceutical benefits that may be prescribed only for specified persons, diseases, &c.

2. Regulation 14 of the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—

“ (5.) Where two or more pharmaceutical benefits are specified in the second column of the Fifth Schedule in respect of an item in that Schedule, any purpose, condition or restriction specified in the third column of that Schedule in respect of that item applies to and in relation to each of those pharmaceutical benefits.”.

First Schedule.

3. The First Schedule to the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended by omitting item 10 and item 185.

Second Schedule.

4.—(1.) The Second Schedule to the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended by omitting item 22 and inserting in its stead the following item:—

“ 22

Chloramphenicol, B.P. ..

Chloramphenicol B.P. with Polymyxin B. Sulphate B.P.

Chloramphenicol B.P. with Hydrocortisone Acetate B.P.”.

(2.) The Second Schedule to the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended by omitting item 65 and inserting in its stead the following item:—
