National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations2(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the National Health Act 1953.

Heading to Part II

 1. The heading to Part II of the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended by inserting “, MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS” after “DENTISTS”.

Application for approval by a pharmaceutical chemist, hospital authority or medical practitioner

 2. Regulation 8 of the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended by omitting all the words before “for” (first occurring), and substituting “The Minister, in the case of a hospital authority, and the Permanent Head, in the case of a pharmaceutical chemist or medical practitioner, may refuse to entertain an application”.

Numbering of approvals

 3. Regulation 8A of the National Health (Pharmaceutical Benefits) Regulations is amended—

• (a)

  by adding “or” at the end of paragraph (b);

• (b)

  by omitting from paragraph (c) “Act; or” and substituting “Act,”;

• (c)

  by omitting paragraph (d); and

• (d)

  by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:

• “(2)

  Where the Minister approves a hospital authority under section 94 of the Act he may allot a number to that approval”.
