DECLARATION UNDER SUBSECTION 85(2AA)

I, JOAN CORBETT, Assistant Secretary, Pharmaceutical Benefits Branch, Department of Health and Ageing and Delegate of the Minister for Health and Ageing, having in accordance with subsection 85(2AB) of the National Health Act 1953 obtained the advice of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee, pursuant to subsection 85(2AA) of the National Health Act 1953 hereby make the following Declaration:
1. This Declaration commences on 1 December 2005.
2. The drugs and medicinal preparations specified in the Schedule to this Declaration shall cease to be drugs and medicinal preparations to which Part VII of the National Health Act 1953 applies.

DELETION OF PHARMACEUTICAL BENEFIT ITEMS
EFFECTIVE 1 DECEMBER 2005
Following is the advice of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee concerning the deletion of items from the declaration under subsection 85(2) of the National Health Act 1953, with effect from 1 December 2005.
Item PBAC Advice
Acetazolamide Sodium The PBAC agreed to deletion following advice from the sponsor that that Acetazolamide Sodium injection 500mg (solvent required) is being discontinued.
Demeclocycline Hydrochloride The PBAC agreed to deletion following advice from the sponsor that Demeclocycline Hydrochloride capsule 150mg is being discontinued.
Nicotinic Acid The PBAC agreed to deletion following a request from the sponsor to delete Nicotinic Acid tablet 250mg.
Oestrogens-Conjugated and Oestrogens- The PBAC agreed to deletion following
Conjugated with Medroxyprogesterone advice from the sponsor that Oestrogens-
Acetate Conjugated and Oestrogens-Conjugated with Medroxyprogesterone Acetate pack containing 14 tablets conjugated oestrogens 625 micrograms and 14 tablets conjugated oestrogens 625 micrograms with medroxyprogesterone acetate 5mg and pack containing 14 tablets conjugated oestrogens 625 micrograms and 14 tablets conjugated oestrogens 625 micrograms with medroxyprogesterone acetate 10mg are being discontinued.
Procainamide Hydrochloride The PBAC agreed to deletion following advice from the sponsor that Procainamide Hydrochloride capsule 250mg is being discontinued.
Spectinomycin Hydrochloride The PBAC agreed to deletion following advice from the sponsor that Spectinomycin injection 2g with 3.2mL diluent is being discontinued.
Tetracycline Hydrochloride (Buffered) The PBAC agreed to deletion following advice from the sponsor that Tetracycline Hydrochloride (Buffered) capsule 250mg is being discontinued.
Ammonia Spirit, Aromatic BP The PBAC agreed to deletion following
Cetostearyl Alcohol BP advice that prices for these drugs were no
Chlorinate Lime BP longer available from recognised wholesalers.
