An Ordinance to amend the National Exhibition Centre Trust Ordinance 1976

Short title

1.  This Ordinance may be cited as the National Exhibition Centre Trust (Amendment) Ordinance 1986.¹

Principal Ordinance

2.  In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the National Exhibition Centre Trust Ordinance 1976.²

Short title

3.  Section 1 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting “Canberra Showground” and substituting “National Exhibition Centre”.

Membership of Trust

4.  Section 8 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a)by omitting from paragraph (1) (aa) “and”;

(b)by inserting after paragraph (1) (aa) the following paragraph:

“(ab)an officer within the meaning of the Public Service Act 1922 who is occupying or performing the duties of a position in the Department; and”;

(c)by inserting after sub-section (5) the following sub-section:

“(5A)   Subject to this Ordinance, the member referred to in paragraph (1) (ab) holds office until the member ceases to occupy or perform the duties of a position in the Department.”; and

(d)by omitting from sub-section (6) “, other than the member referred to in paragraph (1) (aa)” and substituting “referred to in paragraph (1) (a) or (b)”.

Termination of appointment

5.  Section 12 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by adding at the end the following sub-section:

“(3) The Minister may at any time terminate the appointment of the member referred to in paragraph 8 (1) (ab).”.

Meetings of the Trust

6.  Section 17 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a)by omitting from paragraph (6) (a) “6 or 7” and substituting “not less than 7”; and

(b)by omitting from paragraph (6) (b) “6” and substituting “7”.
