(Amendment) Ordinance 1983

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the National Exhibition Centre Trust Ordinance
1976
Short title
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the National Exhibition Centre Trust
(Amendment) Ordinance 1983}
Principal Ordinance
2. In this Ordinance, "Principal Ordinance" means the National
Exhibition Centre Trust Ordinance 1976}
Assembly; and";
Interpretation
3. Section 2 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting after the
definition of "Deputy Chairman" the following definition:
" 'House of Assembly' means the Australian Capital Territory House of
Assembly;".
Membership of trust
4. Section 8 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—
| (a) | by omitting from paragraph (1) (a) "and"; |
| (b) | by inserting after paragraph (1) (a) the following paragraph: |
"(aa) a member of the House of Assembly nominated by the

(c) by inserting after sub-section (3) the following sub-sections: "(4) Subject to this section, the member referred to in paragraph (1) (aa) holds office until the first meeting of the House of Assembly held after the election of members of the Assembly next following his appointment.
"(5) The member referred to in paragraph (1) (aa) ceases to hold office as a member if he ceases to be a member of the House of Assembly."; and
(d)
by inserting in sub-section (6) ", other than the member referred to in paragraph (1) (aa)" after "member".
Acting appointments
5. Section 16 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting after
sub-section (3) the following sub-section:
"(4) A person shall not be appointed under this section to act as the
member referred to in paragraph 8(1) (aa) unless the person—
(a) is a member of the House of Assembly; and (b) has been nominated by the Assembly.". NOTES
