Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (United States of America) Regulations 2(Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1987.

1.   Amendment

1.1   The Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (United States of America) Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

[NOTE: These Regulations commence on gazettal: see Acts Interpretation Act 1901, s. 48.]

2.   Regulation 3 (Application of the Act)

Omit the regulation, substitute:

Application of the Act

 “3.(1) The Act applies to the United States of America.

 “(2) For the purposes of subsection 7 (2A) of the Act, the Act applies to the United States of America in respect of obtaining access, for the purpose of international assistance in criminal matters, to FTR information.”.
