An Act to grant monetary assistance to muni
cipalities in making, maintaining, curbingand guttering of streets, and asphalting foot
paths. [24th December, 1902.]
Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative authority of the same, as follows :—
1. This Act may be cited as the "Municipalities Relief Act, 1902." 2. For the purpose of making, maintaining, curbing,, and
guttering streets and asphalting footpaths within municipalities there may be paid out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund in respect of the municipal year commencing in February, one thousand nine hundred and three, to the council of each municipality a sum equal to two shillings and six pence in each pound sterling actually raised in the municipality by rates, assessments, and subscriptions during the last
preceding municipal year. Such
Such payment shall he made half-yearly upon receipt of the account mentioned in subsection one of section one hundred and fifty-seven of the Municipalities Act, 1897 :
Provided that no such payment shall be made in respect of a municipality which during such municipal year is in receipt of endowment under section one hundred and fifty-seven aforesaid.
