An Act to amend the "Municipal Gas Act of

WH E R E A S doubts have ar isen as to t h e power of Councils unde r t h e provisions of t h e " Municipal i t ies A c t of

Munic ipa l

1 8 6 7 " a n d t h e " Mun ic ipa l Gas A c t of 1 8 8 1 " to charge t h e l ands

genera l and special ra tes of t h e Munic ipa l i ty w i t h t h e secur i ty for t h e r epaymen t of a n y loan m a d e to such Council for t h e purpose of con­ s t ruc t ing gas-works A n d whereas i t is expedient to remove such doubts

and to extend the power aforesaid B e i t therefore enacted b y the

Queen ' s Mos t Exce l l en t Majesty by and w i t h t h e advice a n d consent

of t h e Legis la t ive Counci l a n d Legis la t ive Assembly of N e w Sou th

"Wales in P a r l i a m e n t assembled and b y t h e au tho r i t y	of	t he	same	as
follows :—

1. The powers conferred upon t h e Council of any Munic ipa l i ty

u n d e r section th ree of t h e " Mun ic ipa l Gas A c t of 1 8 8 1 " shal l be so

extended as to au thor ize a n d empower such Counci l to borrow money for t he purpose of cons t ruc t ing or pu rchas ing gas-w rorks upon the credit of al l or any general or special ra tes or r a t e which such Council is au thor ized to levy and upon the secur i ty of t he lands of such Councils .

2. This A c t may be cited as t h e " Munic ipa l Gas A c t Amend­

m e n t A c t of 18S6 ."
