AN ACT to make provision for changing the

style of the Municipal Councils of Albany and

Geraldton and of other Towns in the Colony.

[ Assented to, 18th September, 1885.]

FIEREAS it is expedient to change the style of the

Municipal Councils of Albany and Geraldton, and to make

provision for the change in the future of the style of other Councils

instituted under the Municipal Institutions Acts, 1871 or 1876, or

of any Act amending the same: Be it therefore enacted by His

Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Depen-

dencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative

Council thereof, as follows :—

1871," shall be " The Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Town

shall have all and the like rights, liabilities, privileges, and immunities

as have been heretofore possessed by them under the styles and titles

of "The Council and Burgesses of the Town of Albany," and "The

Council and Burgesses of the Town of Geraldton." The present

Chairmen of the Councils of the Municipalities of Albany and

Chairmen to be

Mayors.

Geraldton shall be the first Mayors of the said Towns, and shall continue in office up to the thirtieth November next.

2. WHENEVER in any Act, Law, or Statute, or other public

3.     IT shall be lawful for the Governor in Executive Council,

immunities as it had previously to such change, and the Mayor

of such Municipality shall continue to have all the rights, privileges, liabilities, and immunities as such Chairman had previously to such change ; and the provisions of section 2 of this Act shall apply to such Council . and to the Mayor thereof.

A COPY of the Government Gazette, purporting to be printed by the Government Printer, containing any such notice as aforesaid, shall-be received in all places and at all times as evidence of the facts mentioned in such notice.
