AN ACT to amend the Municipal Corporations Act,

1906-1946.

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1.    This Act may be cited as the Municipal Corpora- Short title.

tions Act Amendment Act (No. 2), 1947, and shall be read as one with the Municipal Corporations Act, 1906- 1946 (Act No. 32 of 1906 as reprinted pursuant to the Amendments Incorporation Act, 1938 in Volume one of The Reprinted Acts of the Parliament of Western Aus- tralia, 1939, and amended by Acts Nos. 19 of 1939, 41 of 1940, 11 of 1941, 18 of 1943, 59 of 1945 and 12 of 1946), hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

new s. 300A

3. The principal Act is amended by inserting after 300A. Whenever any building now or hereafter erected for the purpose of human habitation shall be distant not more than one hundred yards from any electricity main supplying electric current capable of being used for lighting purposes, and electricity supply from such main is available from the supply authority, the council may, if requested by any occupier of such building or any part thereof, cause notice to be served on the owner of such building requiring him within three months to instal therein and equip the same with proper electrical wire and apparatus so that lighting by electricity would, upon such wire and apparatus being con- nected to an electricity main, become available in all rooms or other parts of such building which in the opinion of the council are being or are likely to be used in respect of such habitation as aforesaid.
