AN ACT to amend section four hundred and eighty of

the Municipal Corporations Act, 1906-1939.

BE it enacted by the King's -Most Excellent Majesty,by and with the advice and consent of the Legis-

lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

1.    This Act may be cited as the Municipal Corpora- Short title.

tions Act Amendment Act, 1940, and shall be read as one with the Municipal Corporations Act, 1.906-1939 (No. 32 of 1906, as reprinted pursuant to the Amendments In- corporation Act, 193$, in Volume I. of the Reprinted Acts of the Parliament of Western Australia and amended by the Act No. 19 of 1939), hereinafter referred to as the principal Act.

(ai) During the continuance of any war in which His Majesty is engaged, either at the com- mencement of this paragraph or at any time hereafter, and for the period of six months after the termination of any such war, a council shall be deemed to be expending money for a purpose connected with the municipality and for the benefit or credit thereof within the meaning of paragraph (a) of this subsection when it contributes money to any fund established for any patriotic purpose connected with such war, whether such fund is so established within the State

or in any place beyond the State and by any Government, society, association, corporation, or other body of persons, or by any person acting in an official capacity.
