Part 1—Preliminary

1—Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles Variation Regulations 2012.

2—Commencement

These regulations will come into operation on the day on which section 4 of the Road Traffic (Red Light Offences) Amendment Act 2011 comes into operation.

3—Variation provisions

In these regulations, a provision under a heading referring to the variation of specified regulations varies the regulations so specified.

4—Variation of Schedule 4—Demerit points

Schedule 4, clause 1, item relating to section 79B(2) of the Road Traffic Act 1961, sub‑item relating to rule 123(a) of the Australian Road Rules—delete the sub‑item and substitute:

r 123(a)—Entering level crossing in certain circumstances

Entering level crossing while twin red lights are operating
