Part 1—Preliminary

1—Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles Variation Regulations 2004.

2—Commencement

These regulations will come into operation on 1 August 2004.

3—Variation provisions

In these regulations, a provision under a heading referring to the variation of specified regulations varies the regulations so specified.

4—Variation of Schedule 7—Demerit points

Schedule 7, Part 1, Division 2—after the item relating to rule 289(2) of the Australian Road Rules insert:

300(1) Using hand-held mobile phone while driving vehicle 3
