MOTOR VEHICLES (TAXATION)

An Act to provide for an increase of taxes on motor vehicles and trailers; for this purpose to amend the Motor Vehicles (Taxation) Act, 1924; and for purposes connected there­ with. [Assented to, 7th November, 1939.]

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the " M o t o r Vehicles

(Taxa t ion) Act, 1939 ."

(2) This Act shall be read and const rued with the Motor T a x Management Act, 1914, as amended by subsequent Acts , and the Motor Vehicles (Taxa t ion) Act, 1924, as amended by subsequent Acts .

The amount which const i tu tes the t ax imposed upon motor vehicles by the Motor Vehicles (Taxa t ion) Act, 1924, as amended by subsequent Acts , is hereby, wi th respect to the t ax payable upon motor vehicles the regis­ t ra t ion or renewal of reg is t ra t ion of which takes effect on or a f te r a day to be appoin ted by the Governor and notified by proclamat ion published in the Gazette, increased by twelve and one-half pe r centum.
