MOTOR VEHICLE (THIRD PARTY INSURANCE) AMENDMENT ACT

No. 65 of 1986

AN ACT to amend the Motor Vehicle (Third Party Insurance)

Act 1943.

[Assented to 28 November 1986]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the

advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Motor Vehicle (Third Party

Insurance) Amendment Act 1986.

Commencement

2.     This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it receives

the Royal Assent.

Section 26 amended

3. Section 26 of the Motor Vehicle (Third Party Insurance) Act 1943*

is amended by deleting "for" and substituting the following-

" in respect of death or bodily injury caused or contributed to by ".

Validity of existing contracts

4.     A contract entered into before the coming into operation of this

Act

(a)	is as valid and effectual as it would be;
(b)	shall be deemed to have always been as valid and effectual as it would have been,

if this Act had come into operation on 1 July 1944.
