AN ACT to amend the Motor Vehicle (Third Parts

Insurance) Act, 1943-1969.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent

2. Subsection (1) of section 3 of the principal "the Chairman" in relation to the Tribunal means the person appointed to the office of Chairman of the Tribunal and includes a District Court Judge appointed pursuant to the District Court of Western Australia Act, 1969, acting as the Chairman of the Tribunal pursuant to this Act and a person appointed under subsection (14) of section 16 of this Act, to act as such Chairman; .

(a) by adding after subsection (13) subsections (13a) Any District Court Judge may, at the request of the Chairman and with the consent of the Chairman of Judges under the District Court of Western Australia Act, 1969, act in the place of the Chair- man, notwithstanding that the first- mentioned Chairman is not absent and is able to perform the duties of his office of Chairman.

(a)

is, while he so acts, a member of the Tribunal and has the same powers and may exercise the same jurisdiction as the Chair- man;

(b)

is not entitled to be paid any remuneration under this section;

constitutes, together with one nominee member or both nominee members, the Tribunal;

is not subject to subsection (16) or (17) of this section;

(e)

may sit in chambers concur- rently with the Chairman. .
