His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Motor Vehicle Repairs Act 1980.

Explanatory note

The objects of this Replation are: 
( a )  to alter the fee for an application to amend a licence from $10 to $50 where a physical inspection of the workshop of the applicant is required (no fee will be required in other cases). and
(b)  to remove the fee for the issue of a duplicate certificate, and
(c)  to increase the fee for an application for a licence:
(i)  from $200 to $216 where the applicant is a former licensee whose licence has lapsed within the previous 12 months, and
(ii)  from $313 to $450 in any other case.

This Regulation is made under the Motor Vehicle Repairs Act 1980, including sections 17 ( 5 ) and 20 (2) (as continued in operation by Schedule 2 to the Business Licences Act 1990 and an order under Part 2 of that Schedule published in Gazette No 45 dated 15 March 1991. p 2122), 37 and 89 (the general regulation making power).

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Motor Vehicle Repairs Amendment

Regulation 1998.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 28 February 1998.

3     Amendment of Motor Vehicle Repairs Regulation 1982

The Motor Vehicle Repairs Regulation 1982 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

[ 1 ]       Clause 4 Fees

Omit “$10” from clause 4 (1 ) (a).
Insert instead “$50. but only if an inspection of the place of business

concerned is required”.
