An Ordinance to amend the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936

Short title

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Motor Traffic (Amendment)

Ordinance (No. 4) 1982.1

Principal Ordinance

2. In this Ordinance, "Principal Ordinance" means the Motor Traffic

Ordinance 1936.2

Special licences to drive

3. Section 13A of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting

sub-section (4) and substituting the following sub-section:

"(4) The Registrar shall, upon payment by the applicant of a fee of $17 plus 50 cents for each month or part of a month during which the licence is to remain in force, comply with the order of the Court.".

Licence to conduct motor omnibus service

4. Section 33 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting

sub-section (5) and substituting the following sub-sections:

"(4) Prior to the grant of a motor omnibus service licence, payment shall

"(5) Prior to the renewal of a motor omnibus service licence, payment

shall be made to the Commonwealth of a fee of $20.".

First Schedule

5. The First Schedule to the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a)

by omitting paragraph (1) of item 1 and substituting the following paragraph:

"(1) Registration or renewal of registration of a motor vehicle, being a motor car, public motor vehicle, motor lorry, passenger car derivative, motor tractor, motor implement or equipment motor lorry—

(a) motor car, public motor vehicle—
(i) where the tare does not exceed 2 tonnes 68

(ii)

where the tare exceeds 2 tonnes but does not exceed 4 tonnes—$68 plus $22 for each 250 kilograms or part of 250 kilograms by which the tare exceeds 2 tonnes;

(iii)

where the tare exceeds 4 tonnes—$244 plus $18 for each 250 kilograms or part of 250 kilograms by which the tare exceeds 4 tonnes;

(b) motor lorry, passenger car derivative—
(i) where the tare does not exceed 1 tonne 72

(ii)

where the tare exceeds 1 tonne but does not exceed 3 tonnes—$72 plus $24 for each 250 kilograms or part of 250 kilograms by which the tare exceeds 1 tonne;

(iii)

where the tare exceeds 3 tonnes—$264 plus $31 for each 250 kilograms or part of 250 kilograms by which the tare exceeds 3 tonnes;

(c) motor tractor, motor implement, equipment motor lorry—
(i) where the tare does not exceed 2 tonnes 30
(ii) where the tare exceeds 2 tonnes but does not exceed 4 tonnes . . 60
(iii) where the tare exceeds 4 tonnes 115";
(b) by omitting item 2 and substituting the following item:
"2. (1) Registration of motor cycle, whether with or without side car . . . 33
(2) Renewal of registration of motor cycle, whether with or without side car 18";
(c) by omitting item 5 and substituting the following item:

"5. (1) Licence or renewal of licence to ply for hire in respect of a motor

omnibus 200
(2) Licence or renewal of licence to ply for hire in respect of a taxi . . . . 150"

;and

(d) by omitting item 7 and substituting the following item:
"7. Licence or renewal of licence for use of motor car as private hire car . . 150".

Further amendments

6. The Principal Ordinance is further amended as set out in the following

table:
