Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936

Short title

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Motor Traffic (Amendment)

Ordinance (No. 2) 1982.1

Principal Ordinance

2. In this Ordinance, "Principal Ordinance" means the Motor Traffic
figures'1698';".

Interpretation

3. Section 4 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting in

sub-section (5) ", 190A, 191 "af ter"189".
Motor cyclists to wear safety helmets

4. Section 190A of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting after

paragraph (4) (b) the following paragraph:

"(ba) to a helmet that has applied to it the certification trade mark of
which the Standards Association of Australia is the registered
proprietor under the Trade Marks Act 1955 together with the

Pillion riding

5. Section 191 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-section (2); and
(b) by omitting paragraphs (3) (d) and (e) and substituting the following word and paragraph:

"and (d) the driver has held for a period of at least 12 months a licence or other authority to drive a motor cycle, not being a permit licence, issued under this Ordinance or under the law of a State, another Territory or another country.".
