Relating to Motor Traffic.

the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910-1972.

MOTOR TRAFFIC ORDINANCE (No. 5) 1973

1. (1) This Ordinance may be cited as the Motor Traffic Ordin­ ance (No. 5) 1973.*

(2) The Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936-1972,f as amended by the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1973,$ the Motor Traffic Ordinance (No. 2) 1973,§ the Motor Traffic Ordinance (No. 3) 1973 || and the Motor Traffic Ordinance (No. 4) 1973,U is in this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.

(3) Section 1 of the Motor Traffic Ordinance (No. 4) 1973 is amended by omitting sub-section ( 4 ) .

(4) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance, may be cited as the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936-1973.

2. This Ordinance shall come into operation on 1 November 1973.

3. The Principal Ordinance is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Ordinance is repealed and the Schedule set out in Schedule 2 substituted.

1. (1) Registration or renewal of registration of any motor vehicle, being a motor

car, motor lorry, motor tractor or public motor vehicle:—

(a) motor car or public motor vehicle (other than a motor omnibus)—at the ra te of 70 cents per half cwt. of its weight;

(b) motor lorry—

(i)   of weight not exceeding 40 cwt.—at the rate of 70 cents per half cwt. of its weight;

(ii)   of weight exceeding 40 cwt. but not exceeding 80 cwt.—at the rate of 85 cents per half cwt. of its weight;

(iii)   of weight exceeding 80 cwt. but not exceeding 120 cwt.—at the rate of one dollar per half cwt. of its weight;

(iv)   of weight exceeding 120 cwt.—at the rate of one dollar per half cwt. of its weight;

(c) motor omnibus—at the rate of one dollar per half cwt. of its weight;

(d ) motor tractor—

(i) where the tractor is owned by a farmer and used solely for the carting

of his own produce and not let out on hire . . . . . . 4 . 0 0

(2) In the case of a motor lorry owned by a farmer and used solely for the carting of his own produce and not let out on hire, the rate shall be one-half of the rate which would, but for this sub-clause, be applicable to that motor lorry.
