AN ORDINANCE

To Amend the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936-1942 as

amended by the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1943.

BE it ordained by the Governor-General in and over the Com-Executive Council, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the monwealth of Australia, with the advice of the Federal Seat of Government Acceptance Act 1909-1938 and the Seat of
Government (Administration) Act 1910-1940, as follows:—

1.— (1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Motor Traffic short title

Ordinance (No. 2) 1943.* and citation.

(2.) Section one of the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1943 is amended by omitting sub-section (3.).

(3.) The Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936-1942, as amended by the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1943, is in this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.

(4.) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance may be cited as the Motor Traffic Ordinance 1936-1943.

2. Section sixty-three of the Principal Ordinance is amended Dangerou.

by adding at the end thereof the following sub-section:—

" (3.) Where a person is convicted of an offence against this
section, he shall, in addition to any penalty imposed by the Court—•
(a) cease, on and from the date of his conviction, to be

licensed or to be deemed to be licensed to drive a

motor vehicle;

(b) deliver his licence to the Registrar for cancellation; and (c) unless and until the Court which convicted him orders

to the contrary, be disqualified from being granted a

licence to drive a motor vehicle.".

3. Section seventy of the Principal Ordinance is amended— Driver to

(a) by inserting in sub-section (J.), after the word of accident.

"person," (first occurring), the words " or

I

property " ;

(b) by inserting in sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (b) of that sub-section, after the word " whose ", the words ", property,"; and

(c) by inserting in paragraph (c) of that sub-section, after the word " Force ", the words " as soon as practicable and, in any case,".

4. After section 78A of the Principal Ordinance the following

section is inserted:—

Driver to " 78B. A driver of a motor vehicle approaching an intersection
stop motor
vehicle at of two or more streets from a street in which is placed, at or near
certain
Intersections. the intersection, an official traffic .sign bearing the word ' S t o p '
shall, before entering the intersection, stop the motor vehicle.".
