MOTOR TRAFFIC
No. 27 of 1970
An Ordinance to amend the Motor Traffic Ordinance
1936-1969.
1.—(1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Motor Traffic
Ordinance 1970.*

| 2 . Section 7A of the Motor Traffic Ordinance | 1936-1969 is |
amended—
(a) by omitting from sub-section (1.) the words ", being such a rule as is in force on the first day of January, One thou
sand nine hundred and seventy ";(b) by omitting from sub-section (2.) the words " the first day of January, One thousand nine hundred and seventy," and
inserting in their stead the words " a particular date ";(c) by inserting after sub-section (6.) the following sub sections:—
" (6A .) Without limiting the generality of the last pre ceding section, the Registrar may refuse to register, or to renew the registration of, a passenger car or passenger car derivative manufactured on or after the first day of July, One thousand nine hundred and seventy, unless the rims of its wheels comply with the requirements of the design rule known as 'Australian Design Rule No. 2 0 — Safety Rims'.

" (6B . ) A reference to a design rule in sub-section (5 . ) or (6.) of this section shall be read as a reference to such a design rule as in force on the first day of January, One thousand nine hundred and seventy, and the reference to the design rule in the last preceding sub-section shall be read as a reference to that rule as in force on the first day of July, One thousand nine hundred and seventy.";
(d) by omitting from sub-section (8.) the words " sub-sections (5 . ) and (6.) " and inserting in their stead the words
"sub-sections ( 5 . ) , (6 . ) and (6A .) "; and

(e)
by omitting sub-section (9.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-section:—
" (9.) A certificate in writing under the hand of the
Minister certifying that—
(a) a document to which the certificate is annexed i s— (i) a copy of the design rule known as
'Australian Design Rule No. A—Seat Belts';
(ii) a copy of the design rule known as 'Australian Design Rule No. 5A—Seat Belt Anchorage Points';
(iii) a copy of the design rule known as
'Australian Design Rule No. 7 — Hydraulic Brake Hoses';
(iv) a copy of the design rule known as 'Australian Design Rule No. 20—Safety Rims'; or
(v) a copy of an instrument referred to in such a design rule; and
(b)
the design rule was in force on a date specified in the certificate,
is evidence that the document is such a copy and that the
design rule was in force on that date.".
