An Act to amend the Motor Accidents Act 1988 with respect to the number of part-time directors of the Board of Directors of the Motor Accidents Authority. [Assented to 4 November 1997]

Section 1 Motor Accidents Amendment (Board of Directors) Act 1997 No 91

The Legislature of New South Wales enacts:

1 Name of Act

This Act is the Motor Accidents Amendment (Board of Directors)

Act 1997.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on a day to be appointed by proclamation.

3 Amendment of Motor Accidents Act 1988 No 102

The Motor Accidents Act 1988 is amended as set out in

Schedule 1 .

(Section 3)

[1]        Section 84 Constitution of Board of Directors

Omit section 84 (2) (b). Insert instead:

(b) not less than 7 and not more than 10 part-time directors appointed by the Governor on the recommendation of the Minister.

[2]        Section 84 (2A)

Omit “7”.

[3] Schedule 2 Constitution and procedure of the Board of Directors of the Authority

Omit clause 13. Insert instead:

13 Quorum

The quorum for a meeting of the Board is a majority of directors for the time being.

Insert after Part 8:

Part 9 Provisions arising from enactment of Motor Accidents Amendment (Board of Directors) Act 1997

not affect the appointment or term of office of a person who held office as a part-time director of the Board of Directors of the Authority immediately before the amendments took effect.
