His Excellency the Governor, with th advice of the Executive Council, has e made the following Regulation under the Motor Accidents Act 1988.

Explanatory note
Following the privatisation of the former Government Insurance Office in accordance with the Government Insurance Office (Privatisation) Act 1991, the responsibility for administering the Transport Accidents Compensation Fund (established under the Transport Accidents Compensation Act 1987 and continued under the Motor Accidents Act 1988) passed to the NSW Insurance Ministerial Corporation constituted by the Privatisation Act.
The Motor Accidents Amendment Act 1997 made various amendments to the Motor Accidents Act 1988 including replacing where appropriate references to the former Government Insurance Office with references to the Ministerial Corporation.
The objects of this Regulation are:
| (a) | to replace references to the former Government Insurance Office in the Motor Accidents Regulation 1995 with references to the Ministerial Corporation (Schedule 1 [l]), and |
| (b) | to repeal a provision that is no longer required (Schedule 1 [2]). |
This Regulation is made under the Motor Accidents Act 1988, including section 136 (the general regulation making power).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Motor Accidents Amendment (Insurance
Ministerial Corporation) Regulation 1997.2 Amendment of Motor Accidents Regulation 1995
The Motor Accidents Regulation 1995 is amended as set out in
Schedule 1.

Omit “GIO” wherever occurring.
Insert instead “Ministerial Corporation”.
[2] Clause 8 Payment of management fee to GIO out of TAC Fund:

Omit the clause.
