Name of regulation
This regulation is the Motor Accident Injuries (Premiums and Administration) Amendment Regulation 2025 (No 1).
Commencement
This regulation commences on the day after its notification day.
NoteThe naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).
Legislation amended
This regulation amends the Motor Accident Injuries (Premiums and Administration) Regulation 2019.
NoteThis regulation also amends the Road Transport (Offences) Regulation 2005 (see sch 1).

Part 3DMAI insurance
13DOffence—registered operator use, or permit or allow use of, uninsured motor vehicle on road or road related area
(1)A person commits an offence if—
(a)the person—
(i)is the registered operator of a motor vehicle; and
(ii)uses, or permits or allows another person to use, the vehicle on a road or road related area; and
(b)the vehicle is not an insured motor vehicle.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.
(2)This section does not apply to a registered operator of a motor vehicle if—
(a)there is an unregistered vehicle permit in force for the vehicle; or
(b)the registration provisions do not apply to the vehicle because of the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2000, part 2.2 (Vehicles not subject to registration provisions); or
(c)the motor vehicle is owned by—
(i)the Territory or a territory authority; or
(ii)the Commonwealth or a Commonwealth authority.
(3)An offence against this section is a strict liability offence.
