An Act to amend the Community Welfare Act, 1982, and certain other
Acts, with respect to the commencing dates of the provisions of those
Acts. [Assented to, 29th March, 1983.]

Miscellaneous Acts (Community Welfare) Amendment.
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
Short title.
This Act may be cited as the "Miscellaneous Acts (Community Wel-
fare) Amendment Act, 1983".
Amendments.
Each Act specified in Schedule 1 is amended in the manner set forth
in that Schedule.
SCHEDULE 1.
(Sec. 2.)
AMENDMENTS TO THE COMMUNITY WELFARE ACT, 1982, AND CERTAIN OTHER ACTS.
Adoption of Children (Community Welfare) Amendment Act, 1982, No. 77—
| Section 2— |
Omit the section, insert instead:—
Commencement.
2. (1) Except as provided by subsections (2) and (3) , this Act shall com- mence on the date of assent to this Act.
(2) Section 3, in its application to a provision of Schedule 1, shall commence on the day on which that provision commences.
(3) The several provisions of Schedule 1 shall commence on such day or days as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.

Section 2—
Omit the section, insert instead:—
Commencement.
2. (1) Except as provided by subsections (2) and (3) , this Act shall com- mence on the date of assent to this Act.
(2) Section 3, in its application to a provision of Schedule 1, shall com- mence on the day on which that provision commences.
(3) The several provisions of Schedule 1 shall commence on such day or days as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.
Community Service Orders (Community Welfare) Amendment Act, 1982, No. 79—
Section 2 (2) —
Omit "the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2) of the Community Welfare Act, 1982", insert instead "such day as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette".
Community Welfare Act, 1982, No. 76—
(1) Section 2 (2) —
Omit the subsection, insert instead:—
(2) Except as provided by subsection (1) , the several provisions of this Act shall commence on such day or days as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.
(2) Section 28 (a) —
Omit "the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2)" , insert instead "the date of commencement of this section".
Coroners (Community Welfare) Amendment Act, 1982, No. 80—
Section 2 (2) —
Omit "the day appointed and notified under section 2 (2) of the Community Welfare Act, 1982", insert instead "such day as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette".

Miscellaneous Acts (Community Welfare) Repeal and Amendment Act, 1982, No. 88—
(1) Section 2—
Omit the section, insert instead:—
Commencement.
2. (1) Except as provided by this section, this Act shall commence on the
date of assent to this Act.
(2) Section 4, in its application to a repeal or amendment specified in Schedule 1, shall commence on the day on which that repeal or amendment takes effect.
(3) Section 5, in its application to a provision of Schedule 2, shall com- mence on the day on which that provision commences.
(4) The several repeals and amendments specified in Schedule 1 shall
take effect on such day or days as may be appointed by the Governor in respect
thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.(5) The several provisions of Schedule 2 shall commence on such day or days as may be appointed by the Governor in respect thereof and as may be notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.
(2) Schedule 2, clause 1, definition of "appointed day"—
Omit the definition, insert instead:—
"appointed day", in relation to a provision of this Schedule, means the day
appointed and notified under section 2 (5) in respect of that provision;

Omit the subclauses, insert instead:—(1) The Governor may make regulations containing provisions of a savings or transitional nature consequent on the enactment of the Principal Act, this Act or any of the following Acts:—
Adoption of Children (Community Welfare) Amendment Act, 1982;
Bail (Community Welfare) Amendment Act, 1982;
Community Service Orders (Community Welfare) Amendment Act, 1982;
Coroners (Community Welfare) Amendment Act, 1982;
