PROCLAMATION*
(L.S.) G. Samuels, A.C., Governor.
I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Mining Legislation Amendment Act 1996, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 8 March 1997 as the day on which that Act commences, except for the following provisions:

| (b) | Schedule 2.2 [2], |
| (c) | Schedule 2.6 [2], |
| (d) | Schedule 2.7 [2], [3], [4], [5] and [8], |

EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Proclamation is to commence all of the provision of the Mining Legislation Amendment Act 1996 other than those dealing with the fixing of fees.
This proclamation is made under section 2 of the Act.
* The proclamation appointed 8.3.1997 as the date of commencement. Pursuant to s 23 (5) of the Interpretation Act 1987, the proclamation does not fail merely because it was not published in the Gazette until after the day appointed in the proclamation, but s 23 (5) provides, in that event, for the Act to commence on the day on which the proclamation was published in the Gazette.
