AN ACT to amend the Mining Development Aet, 1902.

this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of

the same, as follows :-

1.

This Act may be cited as the Mining Development

Short title.

Act Amendment Act, 1924, and shall be read as one with

the Mining Development Act, 1902, hereinafter referred

to as the principal Act.

A section is inserted in Part Six of the principal

section.

Act, as follows :-

28A. (1.) The Minister may appoint a board of five members, to be known as the Central Mining

Boards.

Board, and district mining boards each consisting of three members for districts to be defined by the Minister from time to time by a notification in the

Gazette.

(2.) The members of the Central Mining Board and of each district mining board shall be appointed for two years, and shall be eligible for re-appointment.

(3.) One of the members of the Central Mining Board and of each district board shall be appointed by the Minister as the chairman.

(4.) The members of the Central Mining Board and of each district mining board shall receive such fees and travelling expenses as may be prescribed.

(5.) It shall be the duty of the Central Mining Board to make such inquiries and reports, in connection with the development of mining, as may be required by the Minister.

(6.) It shall be the duty of each district mining board to advise the Minister, through the medium of the Central Mining Board, how and in what manner the development of mining can be advanced in the district for which the district mining board is ap- pointed.

3. All copies of the principal Act hereafter printed by the Government Printer shall be printed as amended by this Act, under the supervision of the Clerk of Parlia- ments, and a reference to this Act shall be made in the margin. The short title of the principal Act as so re- printed shall be " The Mining Development Act, 1902- 1924."
