MINING ACTS AMENDMENT" ACT OF 1920. [ASSENTED TO 4TH JANUARY, 1921.] B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- Short title 1. This Act may be cited as "The ~ lf ining Acts : ~ ~ struction Amendment Act of 1920, No. 2," and shall be read as one of Act. with *" The 1Jlining Acts Amendment Act of 1920." " In subsection five (now (7» of the said section the proviso is repealed and the following provisions are inserted in lieu thereof :- . Provided that the appointments of miners' inspec- tors shall be by ballot of the miners employed in a district the boundaries of which are described by the Minister. Every such appointment shall be for three years from the date on which such ballot is determined. If at any time the position of miners' inspector becomes vacant from any cause, a new appointment shall be made by ballot as aforesaid. The miners so employed may, at any time after a ballot for such purpose has been carried by two-thirds of such miners voting thereon request the Minister to terminate the appointment 01 any such inspector, and the Minister shall thereupon terminate such appointment. " Any such inspector whether so removed or not shall be eligible for reappointment. Any persons who have been appointed prior to the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty..one, shall not continue tQ hold office after that date, but shall be elig~ ble for reappointment by ballot as hereinbefore provided: ... 10 Geo. Provided further that the Minister may at any time terminate any such appointment of a miners' inspector without any such request if in his opinion such inspector is not carrying out his duties in a satisfactory manner." 3. To subsection one of section twenty-three of Amendment *" The Miners' Homestead Perpetual Leases Act of 1913" ~~ sa; :~. as enacted by subsection (xiii.) of section twenty-six of No. 27. t" The Mining Acts Amendment Act of 1920" the following proviso is added:- "Provided that in no case shall the annual ren~ be less than five shillings."
