AN ACT to amend the Mining Act, 1904-1952.

BE it enacted, by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Mining Act and citation.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act

may be cited as the Mining Act, 1904-1955.

2. Section two hundred and seventy-seven of the

principal Act is amended

(a) by adding after the interpretation, "allu- vial prospecting" in subsection (al) the following interpretation

"nickel prospecting" means prospecting

for nickel;

(b) by adding after the word, "prospecting" in line five of subsection (1) the following passage-

; or

nickel prospecting;

(c) by adding after the word, "prospecting" in line nine of paragraph (a) of subsection (la) the following passage

or

three thousand square miles, the length

of which shall not exceed one hundred

miles for the purpose of nickel prospect-

ing;

(d)	by adding after the word, "prospecting" in line eight of subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (a) of subsection (la) the words, "or where the right is granted for nickel prospecting";
(e)	by adding after the word, "minerals" in line twelve of subparagraph (ii) of paragraph (a) of subsection (la) the words, "or nickel"; and
(f)	by adding after the word, "minerals," in line nine of subparagraph (iii) of paragraph (a) of subsection (la), the words, "or except in the case of prospecting for nickel,".
