MINING ACT 1973—REGULATION
(Relating to opal puddling)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Mining Act 1973, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Mining Regulations 1974 are amended by inserting after
Regulation 6 (m) the following paragraph:
(n) opal puddling.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Regulation is to add opal puddling to the list of mining purposes prescribed under the Mining Act 1973. Opal puddling is the release of opals that are found in a clay matrix by means of a washing process.
The holder of a mining lease will be able to carry out opal puddling on the land the subject of the lease without the need to obtain any further authorisation under that Act.
