The Mining Regulations 1974 are amended:

(a)

by omitting from regulation 16A (1) and (2) the words “metal plates” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the word ‘‘tags”;

(b)

by omitting from regulation 16A (3) the words “metal plate” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the word “tag”;

(c) by inserting after regulation 16A (3) the following subregulation:
(4) In this regulation, “tag” means a piece of durable rigid

material, such as plastic, of a size and shape appropriate to the

information that must be stamped on it.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The purpose of this Regulation is to amend the Mining Regulations 1974 so as to enable tags made of durable rigid material to be used in place of the metal plates that are currently required. Two tags are attached to each of the posts fixed to mark
out mining claim areas. The tags are used as labels to show the registered number
of the claim and the year of its registration.
